The film Sinners, produced in part by Hoover High School graduate Sev Ohanian, won four awards at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.
The film took home honors in several major categories during the ceremony. Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance, while director Ryan Coogler received the award for Best Original Screenplay.
Sinners also earned Best Original Score for composer Ludwig Göransson and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw.
The recognition at the Academy Awards capped off a successful awards season for Sinners.
Ohanian, a former editor at the Tornado Times, also received the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award at the Golden Globe Awards.
In addition to its Oscar wins, Sinners earned awards from several other organizations, including the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, the American Cinema Editors, and the Art Directors Guild, along with numerous other accolades throughout the year.
