Hoover High School once again hosted its classic tradition, the “Poster Drop,” on Thursday for the upcoming Winter Rally on Friday.
Tornadoes united to witness the iconic poster drop during lunch in the quad. The theme for this year’s rally posters focused on Hoover’s sports teams.
The freshmen poster was themed after Pirates of the Caribbean and represented the girls’ water polo team.
The sophomore poster followed a How the Grinch Stole Christmas theme for the wrestling team.
The junior poster was themed after She’s the Man and represented the girls’ soccer team.
The senior poster was inspired by High School Musical and represented both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams.
ASB member and junior Matilda Madadian described the process of creating and painting the 11th-grade poster.
“After the theme and sport were chosen, we first sketched what the poster should have looked like. Then we spent about two weeks fully painting the poster during fourth period, EO, and lunch,” she explained.
“It took some time and a lot of effort, but thankfully everyone was determined to get it done.”
Junior Class President Evelyna Kodzhoyan explained how the theme for her grade’s poster was chosen.
“Originally, we thought about doing ‘Zombies,’ but then we decided to do a more original throwback movie,” Kodzhoyan stated.
“We had a lot more soccer girls than guys willing to do the skit, so we reversed the idea of She’s the Man and turned it into He’s the Woman instead.”
“We didn’t have any problems with our poster drop. I had a handful of really hardworking junior girls working on the soccer poster, and I can’t appreciate them enough. They did an amazing job.”
